How to Use the File Exchange

Once you login, you will see your folder on our server where you can send us files for your job, send instructions, and download proofs, if necessary. Take a look at the image below to familiarize yourself with the buttons in the File Exchange.

Navigating the window.
Now that you're familiar with the file storage area, you can create folders, upload files, download files and accomplish many other tasks in a similar way to using the desktop on your own computer.

Notice that when you right-click on a file or group of selected files, you have many options for managing your files. Any files that are web-friendly, such as .jpg, .gif, or .pdf files, will open for preview in a web browser. You can also download individual files or zip up a group of files for download.

Uploading Files.
Of course, what you really want to do is send us your files. Simply click the upload button, and the Upload Dialog box will open (see the picture below). Click the "Add" button to open the File Chooser and select a file to add to your Upload project. You can continue to add files until you are ready. Then hit the "Upload" button to begin the upload. Remember, the larger the files and the greater the number, it will take some time to upload, so be patient! If you have any difficulties because of a slower connection speed, try sending 2 small groups instead of 1 large group.

Alternatively, you can zip your files together. Zip files use compression technology, which is similar in theory to vaccuum sealing items by removing all the air around them. This can greatly reduce your upload and download times.

Large Numbers of Files.
It can also be useful to zip files if you want to copy a very large number of files or an entire folder. Zipping files is relatively easy. Read about zipping files here.
